8. PROPOSAL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE DOVER ART SPACE

Joanna Jones

White Cliffs of Dover

A pavilion style structure in the shape of two interlocking sea shells. The pavilion is built for the purpose of providing an art and event space in Dover for installations, exhibitions and talks. The space consists of an enclosed central exhibition space with adjoining rooms designed for presentations by environmental organisations, geologists, marine biologists and other scientists and artists involved with environmental conservation. The pavilion measures approximately 8 meters at the highest point by 50 meters in length.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Dover Art Network is an online exhibition of ideas from artists in Dover  commissioned in response to the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Dover Art Network resource exists for visitors to explore the work of artists visualised in locations around Dover. It provides artists with an opportunity to explore and develop ideas for sculpture beyond physical limits, to push the boundaries of contextualising art in the public space, and to exhibit collectively across boundaries.

We encourage everyone to explore the work and ideas of the artists as they respond to our town.
