4. THE BREDENSTONE
Kenneth Adams
Western Heights
A sculpture of a lighthouse on Western Heights with magnifying lens windows in place of the light. The lighthouse is installed as a companion to the Roman Pharos. Originally Dover housed two Roman lighthouses on either side of the valley, however currently only one still stands. On the Western Heights only the foundations of the second lighthouse remain, known locally as the 'Bredenstone'. This sculpture by Kenneth Adams imagines a rebuilding of a lighthouse for the Western Heights in which visitors can see through the glass windows magnified images of France and the landscape beyond. With this sculpture we are invited to consider national identity as a complex set of connections and stories beyond borders and boundaries.

3. DROWNED WORLD
Helen Lindon
St Edmunds Chapel
An immersive film installation inside St Edmunds Chapel showing film projections on all the ancient walls, creating disorientation and curiosity about what is moving and transforming within the architecture, raising questions of timelessness, entropy, and the inter-connectedness of everything whether micro or macro.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Dover Art Network is an online exhibition of ideas from artists in Dover commissioned in response to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Dover Art Network resource exists for visitors to explore the work of artists visualised in locations around Dover. It provides artists with an opportunity to explore and develop ideas for sculpture beyond physical limits, to push the boundaries of contextualising art in the public space, and to exhibit collectively across boundaries.
We encourage everyone to explore the work and ideas of the artists as they respond to our town.
